When I get the feeling of fear but I cannot specifically identify the cause, I call it being “squirrelly”.

It’s an uncomfortable feeling that is not new to me. It can come at any time, but it’s usually seasonal.

It often comes when I fail to keep my focus on this moment.

I used to withdraw and isolate when I feel like that. I don’t do that anymore.

This is the time when I need to quiet my thoughts and lean on God.

God’s got me. He always does.

God, please help me to be ok today. Thank You. Amen.

I can’t “undo” the past. What’s done is done.

Whatever I have done or failed to do cannot be changed. It has all brought me to today.

Each day I must try to move further away from the person I used to be.

Each day I must try to move closer to the person God wants me to be.

God, please help me to be ok today. Thank You. Amen.

When my “spiritual center” is off, my thoughts tend to wander into dark places.

This can happen after being sober for any period of time. Outside distractions can interfere with my connection with God.

My old ways of thinking return.

My old ways of feeling return.

Then I’m headed to my old ways of being.

I need to remember that the only reason I’m still alive is the Grace of God. My primary purpose is to serve Him and not myself.

God, please help me to be ok today. Thank You. Amen.

At some point I must look in the mirror and tell myself that I’m not defined by what happens to me.

I’m defined by how I get up off the mat.

Life delivers gut-punches sometimes. It takes courage to move forward.

Knowing that God is in my corner helps me to carry on.

God, please help me to be ok today. Thank You. Amen.

I talk to strangers. Always have. When I was very young I was told not to. I never listened very well.

Some strangers are worth talking to while others, not so much.

I have found that God puts unlikely people into my path for a purpose. I never know who that is going to be.

There is always the chance that one of us is the angel that the other needs at that moment.

It’s funny how God works in each of our lives.

God, please help me to be ok today. Thank You. Amen.

The miracles in my life have usually occurred in the midst of chaos. Thus, I didn’t notice them until long after they happened … and they happen slowly.

Once the dust settles and I look back, I see that what I needed wasn’t always what I wanted but I’m better off for it.

If I had always gotten what I wanted, I probably would eventually crash and burn.

I don’t choose the miracles. The miracles choose me. I just need to be ready.

    That’s God.

God, please help me to be ok today. Thank You. Amen.

If I think that God has given me more than I can handle, does that mean that I think God made a mistake?

My experience tells me that just when I feel like giving up, God shows me a way.

    Sometimes it’s a little break.

    Sometimes it’s a big break.

Sometimes it’s an angel disguised as a person to remind me to never give up.

I need to keep praying. I need to keep listening. I need to remain hopeful.

God hasn’t carried me this far to abandon me.

God, please help me to be ok today. Thank You. Amen.

Everyone is going through something, either good or bad, with optimism or dread.

I am in no position to tell someone else how to think, feel, or act. I’m not walking in their shoes.

I am in a position to show understanding and compassion. Sometimes that’s what is needed most.

This road is long. I’m glad I’m not walking it alone.

God, please help me to be ok today. Thank You. Amen.

People like me can’t do “just a little bit”. We are alcoholics and addicts.

When it comes to alcohol and drugs, we do as much as we can for as long as we can.

The insidious nature of our disease is that there are times when we convince ourselves that we can handle it. “This time it will be different”.

It always turns out tragic. It always turns out sad. Some of us never draw a sober breath again.

My life is nothing without my recovery. Leaning on God is the answer for me.

God, please help me to be ok today. Thank You. Amen.

    Happy Easter!

Today I am grateful for the second chances in my life.

Although I may not think I deserved them, God thought differently.

God has taken me from my misery and given my life purpose.

God, thank you for today, for carrying me, for bringing me here, and for giving me this life. Please help me to do my best today to be of service to You and my fellows.

God, please help me to be ok today. Thank You. Amen.
