The rest of the world kept moving on when I first stopped drinking. No one stepped aside and noticed that their life had changed because it didn’t.
If I was looking for praise, it was an example of my self-centeredness and ego.
Getting sober is very personal. It’s humbling. It’s scary.
No one understands an alcoholic like another alcoholic.
We praise the success of another recovering alcoholic because it gives us hope.
Sometimes hope is all we have left.
